Solved: Z axis up - Autodesk Community

Dec 16, 2014· I am a noob here, but trying to learn fast. My first design, I didn't change the default to Z axis up... how can I fix that design so that it is correct? I have tried export/import into a new design, but even when the default is now correct, the design comes in with the Z axis wrong. X is ok, Y is up and Z is inverse of what Y should be.

Building a CNC Router Step 4: The Z-axis assembly

The Z-axis assembly. Below you can see two examples of Z-axis assemblies with the Y-Axis CNC Router Gantry in the background. As with the previous discussions, when designing or building a CNC router it is important to consider the forces that are evolved. That way, you can adjust your design and verify that it will meet your design ...

z-axis alignment - practicalmachinist.com

May 18, 2010· hi, is there any easy way to check the alignment of the spindle axis to the z-axis on a vertical mill? i started by placing a precision square paralell to the z-axis on the table indicating of the head. if i put a hss blank in the collet and rotate it, so the runout is averaged out i need to measure the distance between the two at different heights. how do i do it without buying/making ...

DRO Bridgeport Z axis? - practicalmachinist.com

Apr 16, 2011· Each has its own display (quill on top, knee X Y Z below): You should not feed a cut using the knee, only the quill. The reason being that when you release the knee gib to permit vertical movement, the knee pulls away from the column by an unpredictable amount and in unpredictable directions relative to true X and Y axes.

Different Directions In Machining Center Motion : Modern ...

Mar 29, 2005· Some machining centers have begun to appear that use resultant motion in less elaborate ways. That is, these machines use the resultant motion of different elements moving in different directions to achieve the motion along X, Y or Z, but they do so within machining center designs that are considerably more like standard machines.

Milling (machining) - Wikipedia

Aside from size and precision, the principal difference between these hobby-type machines and larger true vertical mills is that the X-Y table is at a fixed elevation; the Z-axis is controlled in basically the same fashion as drill press, where a larger vertical or knee mill has a vertically fixed milling head, and changes the X-Y table elevation.

Why Y-Axis For Turn/Mill Machines? : Modern Machine Shop

Other Y-axis machine builders generally offer machines within these travel ranges. In the Y-axis plane, tools can move in a plus or minus direction perpendicular to the Z-axis and spindle center line. Viewed from the operator's perspective, this Y-axis motion is toward or away from the door of the machine while X-axis motion is floor to ceiling.

Unit 3: Vertical Milling Center Machine Motion ...

CNC machines use a 3D Cartesian coordinate system. Figure 10. shows a typical Vertical Milling Center (VMC). Parts to be machined is fastened to the machine table. This table moves in the XY-Plane. As the operator faces the machine, the X-Axis moves the table left-right. The Y-Axis …

single word requests - X, Y, Z — horizontal, vertical and ...

Whatever symbols we may use, two of the axes are always in one plane. If x and y are horizontal, z is vertical; if x and z are horizontal, y is vertical. The words horizontal and vertical are generally used in a planar (2-dimensional) sense, not spatial (3-dimensional).

Unit 2: CNC Machine Tool Programmable Axes and Position ...

Coordinates are determined according to the east-west for x-axis north-south for y-axis, and up-down for the z-axis displacements from the origin. The Cartesian coordinate system is based on three mutually perpendicular coordinate axes: the x-axis, the y-axis, and the z-axis, See Figure 6 below.
